Discretionary Grants
These are grants for projects that are funded between the full Board meetings.
Introductions
The TY Danjuma Foundation will provide discretionary grants to support relevant and immediate short term interventions within its focus areas that arise outside the Foundation’s annual call for proposals.
Benefits of Discretionary Grants
These grants enable the TYDF Executive Director respond to requests that emerge between full Board meetings. The Foundation believes that discretionary grants will be a useful tool for ensuring that its grant process is dynamic and responds to small relevant unbudgeted requests.
Relevance to TY Danjuma Foundation
Discretionary grants will enable the Foundation provide support for legitimate short-term initiatives that will contribute to its goals.
Projects considered for discretionary grants must fall within the Foundation’s focus areas. Such initiatives must meet the following conditions:
- Be less than N1.5 Million;
- Practical, short and quick impact initiatives, e.g. attending conferences, workshops, publications and providing short term relief such as emergency relief to human and natural disaster; and
- Strengthen the Foundation’s existing interventions.
Eligibility Criteria
- Non Profit Organisations, including current TYDF grantees
Accountability of the Grants
- Grants will not be made outside the Foundation’s purposes;
- Grants disbursements will be subject to all the Foundation’s internal approval processes; and
- Conflict of interest policy will be applied to all discretionary grants.
Responding to Applicants
The Foundation will respond to each request within a maximum of seven (7) working days.
Reporting by Grantees
All grantees will be required to submit comprehensive narrative and financial reports of interventions to the Foundation within one week of completing the project.
Non Profit Organisations, including current TYDF grantees.
*Grants will not be given to individuals and government.
