OBITUARY-Prof. Jean Frances Herskovits Corry (May 1935 – February 2019)

It is with regret and profound sadness that the TY Danjuma Foundation announces the death of one of its founding trustees – Prof. Jean Herskovits Corry on February 5, 2019 in New York, USA. Prof. Jean Herskovits Corry served on the Programmes Committee of the Board since its inception in 2009, where she provided strategic oversight on the implementation of education projects.


TY Danjuma Foundation brings Free Eye Care Services to the Mambila Plateau

Abubakar Hassan stood behind his grandson, Umar Sani on the queue while waiting for their turn to be screened at the TY Danjuma Foundation funded free eye care mission. Umar is 8 years and has a persistent eye condition that seems to be defying treatment. The condition takes a toll on the class three pupil’s education and his grandfather’s farm work. Today, again, his resilient grandfather has brought him for yet another chance at finding a solution. Previously, Abubakar had sought treatment for Umar at Zing General Hospital and spent 20 thousand naira doing so.

TY Danjuma Foundation award prizes to winners of 2019 Channels International Kids cup

For the fourth year in a row, the TY Danjuma Foundation (TYDF) has partnered with Channels Television on the Channels International Kids Cup; a football competition organised initially for primary schools across Nigeria but now expanded to Africa, to promote quality education through sports. The Foundation supports the competition by awarding grants to the top 3 winning schools and providing financial support to the competition’s local organizing committee. The TYDF grant provides funding with which the winning schools can develop critical school infrastructure.

TY Danjuma Foundation commissions a community based emergency health transport in Niger State

A maternal, neonatal and child health project implementation by RaiSe Foundation with funding from the TY Danjuma Foundation has reached a milestone with the commissioning of the community based emergency transport (tricycle ambulance) and the establishment of the transport management scheme. This is a major progress indicator for the project with a goal to reduce maternal and new-born mortality and morbidity in Suleja and Mashegu LGAs of Niger state.

TY Danjuma Foundation Trains Over 100 NGOs in Nigeria

On Friday 22, March 2019, the TY Danjuma Foundation, Nigeria’s first indigenous grantmaking Foundation, organised a one-day capacity building training for Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) in Nigeria to improve capacity to source for funding for social development projects.  The event which brought together over 100 NGOs was held concurrently at the CBN International Training Institute in Abuja, as well as in Jalingo, Taraba State and in Benin City, Edo State.
